LATEST NEWS FROM UK WOOD FLOORS

Engineered or Solid?

Engineered and solid oak wood flooring is not to be confused with laminate flooring. Solid oak flooring consists of one piece of oak, and Engineered flooring consists of layers of ply wood fussed together with a solid (normally oak) wood layer. Laminate surfaces consist of a paper thin veneer which may be real wood or more commonly artificial material.

Our Floor thicknesses range from 15mm with a top wear layer of 4mm and a 20mm thick board will have a 6mm top layer. Even the 4mm wear layer is likely to last a lifetime and will allow several sandings.

Engineered flooring when laid, looks and feels the same in appearance to solid flooring. But is more stable that solid flooring.

The Stability is achieved from the layers of ply which are pressed running in different directions.
